Offering Custom and Contract Farm Operations
Westwillow Farms is an expert in seeding and harvesting operations as well as everything in between, with practical technologies that provide the landowner with a timely, high quality, efficient processes.
CUSTOM HARVESTING
Westwillow Farms operates four Claas Hybrid Combines along with trucks and support equipment to give efficient high-quality harvesting.
Claas combines are renowned for their ability to work in tough conditions. We operate several models to give flexibility. One of which held the wheat harvesting world record and another the corn harvesting world record. They are efficient and powerful.
Between the equipment and our experienced operators who care about your crop, we ensure there is throughput, but we also ensure there is minimal throw over and a high-quality sample.
In wheat, some brands out there leave a lot of whitecaps and unthreshed grain. In normal conditions, we do not. The APS system at the front of these combines delivers aggressive threshing performance.
We have a massive cleaning capacity as well, allowing us to have high production and still clean without throwing over.
Farmers and landowners sometimes do not give enough thought to the throwover or loss out the back of the combines. You have heard of some combines leaving green in the field. Not so with ours. In some cases, our services are free when you consider the difference in loss between our units and others. It is one thing to pump crop through a combine, it's another thing to do so and keep the grain in the tank. When canola is $12 per bushel, a 3 bushel difference pays for the harvest, and sadly 3 bushels is easy to see between some combine crews. We will always be the lowest-loss crew.
One reason is we own our combines, and owners and skilled operators run them. While many operators rent their combines year to year by the hour, we own ours and we fix and rebuild them. We know our machines and we use this knowledge to get you the best results.
We can pick up swaths with our Swath-Up pickups. Or we can straight cut with our Claas and Macdon heads. We operate 40-foot auger heads for tough tangled conditions and 45-foot hinged flex heads for ground-hugging high-production operations.
We bring adequate trucks to handle most crops for short hauls.
We work in wheat, barley, oats, canola, flax, and soybeans, with all combines and corn in one specially set up unit.
If you are worried about the upcoming weather and need to get your crop in the bin, give us a call. 306-209-2019
CONTRACT SEEDING AND HARVESTING
Taking farming and harvesting to the next level, Westwillow Farm Operations is offering Contract Farming. Focusing on the pressure periods of farming (seeding and harvest) we contract with farmers in various climate regions to bring the next level in efficient farming.
We believe that our country needs farmers and we need rural households to keep our communities alive. This doesn’t happen when the land is taken over by investment groups.
But how do you compete against the multinational corporations and investor groups who have efficiency of scale? We know the questions, we are small farmers ourselves. We asked these questions and set out to solve them.
The answer is contract services from Westwillow Farm Operations. Let us handle the large equipment costs and spread it over acres, while you focus on the many details it takes to farm and compete better.
With the cost of seeding and harvesting equipment these days and the trouble getting labour, it is time for farmers to start thinking about what they do best.
During spring farmers need to spray, work the ground, harrow, roll or pick rocks, and manage a thousand other things.
During harvest, there is grain marketing, fall work, spraying, and managing bins and moisture.
There is an intense labor requirement needed during seeding and harvest. It is daunting to find the extra help and today’s workforce is not what it used to be.
Then when farmers have to start looking at equipment where a combined airseeder or tractor costs over a million dollars. It is impossible to justify. You MUST operate the equipment at the maximum number of acres possible to make it pay.
Westwillow Farms looks after these areas. We handle labour, equipment, and the pressure periods allowing you to put your time toward the details you need. Weed control, land preparation, marketing, finance, and your family and community.
Unless you are putting through over 6000 acres PER COMBINE or AIRDRILL AND TRACTOR you cannot run a new unit cheaper than what we charge you on a contract basis.
Unless you have year-round work you cannot afford to hire employees for peak seasons.
This is where Westwillow Farm Operations steps in. We put together the equipment, the staff, and the technologies to help make you more efficient and competitive.
We can bring practical technologies to the smaller farmers that only the big boys can afford.
We have our mechanics, and service technicians, service trucks, and have selected equipment that we can rebuild and upgrade to match our customer's needs. This keeps the costs down that most small farmers cannot handle.
We have a mix of large and small equipment to suit most farmers and allow us to be flexible and cost-effective.
Contract Farm Operations entails the farmer contracting with us to provide the seeding and harvesting services. We work with you to ensure these services are the most cost-effective possible. We will schedule equipment in various climatic zones to ensure the operation is timely.
The farmer guarantees acres and we guarantee service during the season at a price that they cannot do it themselves.
